Resounding success of first eGaming industry awards

The winners of eGaming Review’s first ever eGaming Industry Awards 2005 were announced on Friday 4 November at a glittering event held at The Brewery in the heart of the City of London.

With close to 600 guests attending, the awards were an indication of how far the offshore online gaming industry had travelled in a short space of time.

“The shortlist of companies nominated for awards this year included some of the biggest and brightest names in the industry,” said Scott Longley, editor of eGaming Review.

“If proof was needed, the success of the industry this year has been illustrated by the breadth, creativity and innovation that are the hallmarks of this sector.”

Operator of the year was 888.com Casino, fresh from a successful IPO and excellent quarterly results, but other major online gambling companies that took awards home included:

European hotshot – BetandWin
Non-US-focused – Ladbrokes
US-focused – Sportingbet
Casino operator – 888.com Casino
Poker operator – Pokerstars
