Sovereign Lifestyle and Offshore Banking

Lately I've published some articles about scoundrels and offshore banking scams, global tax avoidance, stories from the darker side of the "offshore" topic. I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression, I'm not some kind of a watchdog, whistle blower, or offshore political/finance pundit, but I am however, someone who has a passion for the subject and topic of living a Sovereign Lifestyle, and to achieve this you need to understand offshore banking and global business, the good, bad, and ugly.

One of the the dictionary definitions of "sovereign", as an adjective, that suits my meaning is; Self-governing; independent: ie. a sovereign state. Since I left school when I was 16 years old, lived in work camps inside the Arctic Circle, on Seismic Ships on the Arctic Ocean, and travelled and lived from there all the way to the Southern most point of mainland Australia, (regret never making it to Tazmania, but that's another story). I've worked and lived in over a dozen countries, and always felt that I was guided by the laws of common sense, respect for other people and their property, but an underlying feeling, or sense, that I was on this planet as a sovereign individual, as in; self-governing and independent.

While living in Australia I ran into my first discrepancy, where my governing didn't entirely match the ideas of the Australian Government, so we parted ways and I remained in their country for another 3 years, while they held on to my Passport for safe keeping. I was a young man of 24 at the time and bound and determined to live by my own rules, however when the time came for me to continue my travels to Singapore, and onward, I needed my Passport back to get out of the country. The education I received while living and working down-under was magnificent, and amongst these great lessons was the first thorough understanding of becoming "sovereign".

To this very day I'm welcome in Australia and most every other country in the world because I believe one of the most important principles to sovereignty is diplomacy, and when you're a single individual attempting to apply your ideas, customs, and beliefs on a civil servant representing a sovereign country with 180 million citizens, like Brasil for example, who's dealing with hundreds, of often less than desirable visitors, from poorer neighboring countries, or even arrogant Gringoes (anyone who doesn't speak Portuguese is a Gringo), from wealthy first-world nations, you have less than 2 minutes to make your point. The point is this; you better say what the civil servant wants to hear, so you better know, and be prepared, to have all the right answers, where ever you go. Never lie, cheat, steal, or break laws, and if you do? don't get caught! because the rest of your life will be some version of hell beyond your wildest imagination.

Sovereign Lifestyle perfection, means you're able to come and go, anywhere in the free world, when you want. Yes, you must avoid staying even 1 day longer than you were granted a visa for, or else you'll have many complicated negotiations, as I did with Immigration Officials from Canbera, Australia, once upon a time - and of course you could risk the likelihood of ever being allowed back in the country, which could also cause problems with other countries. I was lucky with my Oz experience, but never made the same mistake again.

Now that I've painted somewhat of a picture of lifestyle, well travel and border crossing at least. The crux of living a sovereign lifestyle is having the means, and then of course the access to the proceeds of the means; ie. cash, in all the places you go. This is where offshore banking enters the conversation, and partly why I'm so interested in this topic. After 24 years of accessing cash from foreign bank machines, all over the world, I'm fairly well experienced, to be spinning a yarn or two about the do's and don'ts.

Please don't get the impression that I'm a self-made millionaire because I'm not, just a guy who figured out a way, to get where I wanted to go, without breaking any laws, hurting any people or compromising my integrity.

If you weren't already aware, my name is Aaron Arthur Day, I'm currently living in Sao Paulo, Brasil, and I'm an Editor and Webmaster of a dozen or so websites, but most proud of the one you're reading from, called OffshoreNet.
