To Paula Piazza Day
The Love of my life.
We met in Curacao in the fall of 1996, from the moment my eyes fell upon her I knew I was in love. Sounds silly I know but it can happen and I'll testify, here and now, that there was nothing I could do about it, except submit.
So, the romance was one of long distance, long flights, tons of email and lot's of travel between Vancouver, Sao Paulo, Miami and Curacao before the memorable day in February 1998 when Paula arrived at Miami International Airport with her possessions, where I picked her up with my possessions in the car and together we drove to our newly rented Penthouse apartment on Ocean Dive in Hollywood Beach to begin our wonderful adventure together.
Paula's a huge tennis aficionado and 5-Time, Sao Paulo State Champion here in Brasil. We have a wall in our house with large glass windowed trophy cabinet (stuffed) and a wall with plaques and pictures of recognition to her great career. In her day it was unheard of for a woman champion to receive the necessary sponsorship to advance a career into Europe and North America, so Paula went to College for a time but dropped it when she realized it was a natural extension of her passion to become a teacher. Now, after some 12 years of teaching she has adoring tennis students all over the world and although she limits the amount of time spent on the courts (to avoid injury), she always maintains a core group of students so that she can give back and share her passion with others. Paula also loves to collect stationary and is well known on eBay as for 100% positive reviews, in almost 200 auctions she's never had an unhappy buyer and because of her honesty, hard work ethic and great attitude she has email friends all over the world. Probably the next greatest pleasure in the life of my wonderful partner (after tennis and me) is worshipping the sun. Paula and I have lived and traveled all over the world to great beaches, resorts and country clubs, where we enjoy tennis, swimming, running together, working out and just laying in the sun listening to rock-n-roll.
After we were married in Sao Paulo, Brasil in 2000, Paula and I went to New Orleans for our honeymoon and stayed at the most amazing Fairmont Hotel where the tennis court is on the roof, overlooking the French Quarter. Next we visited Disney World and the Animal Kingdom to fulfill a life long dream and then back to the Penthouse overlooking the Beach in Hollywood.
We've travelled together to many places, Paula loves Vancouver, San Francisco, NYC and Los Angeles but if there's one place to see her ecstatically happy, it's upon arrival to Las Vegas where she can be found during the day on the beach at the Hard Rock Hotel, planning our evening of entertainment.
